Collecting and Banking Pediatric Brain Tumour Research Specimens
COG ACNS02B3 is a general tissue banking protocol that enables the collection of specimens for all biological studies requiring brain tumour tissue from patients treated at COG institutions, according to the priorities that have been set by the CNS tumour committee. As a general banking protocol, the intent of COG ACNS02B3 is to create a mechanism through which all biological specimens can be collected under a single informed consent, thus avoiding the necessity of obtaining multiple informed consents at the time of tissue acquisitions. Tissue collected under COG ACNS02B3 can be used for all biological studies that required brain tumour tissue samples and which are approved by the CNS tumour committee.
Primary Outcome:
Looking ahead, therapeutic protocols with correlative biological studies will used COG ACNS02B3 for tissue acquisition.
This protocol will collect tumour specimens that are left over from initial diagnostic procedures, along with a single blood sample from newly diagnosed brain tumor patients. The specimens will be sent to the COG Biopathology Center (BPC) to be stored in the brain tumour tissue bank.
